Catchy Punk Pop

'Can't Be Bothered' is the first single from The Fight's debut album, it's sparky and full of punk pop rhythm that's snappier than Coco Pops. Spliced with a good serving of mellow "wooh-ohs", it follows a successful formula for driving pseudo-punk tunes that might just rip up the charts. B-side 'If Only' is a story of lost teenage love, it's got a nice acoustic guitar backing that slips from major to minor cleanly, supporting the note of angst in the vocals that sounds just a tiny bit Avril Lavigne. It's bright and bouncy while lamenting a situation that obviously plagues many teenagers.

The Fight are allegedly avoiding sticky, dumbed down pop because feisty female singer K8! has already been there and done that. Despite this positive affirmation I can't help but feel that any song with the mantra, "Can't be bothered with my life" teamed later with the words, "It's just not fair" isn't really appealing to the most discerning listeners. 'Can't Be Bothered' is a fun and catchy song, but it's not likely to make much ground in terms of inventiveness or lyrical maturity.
