A minimalist mystery

The Flies are attempting to resonate impeccable mystery; their press release states that an album will be available in 2006, but not on CD and the live band has chosen not to play live. I'm almost expecting this single to self-destruct after 7 plays, but it's a track that you'll certainly want to play more than that.

'Walking On The Sand's minimalist sound only excites the listener more, the percussion seems to consist of echoing snaps and cymbal strokes and the rest is easy going vocals. The sparse atmosphere only serves to make the husky, whispering vocals more precious, rather like a painting in a plain white room will draw your entire attention. The tune swaggers along with a little blues inflection and it's certainly an intriguing number that leaves the listener wanting to hear some more. No soon has it made its lilting, sultry appearance, than it's faded out from whence it came, leaving us wondering who The Flies are and what their masterplan is, but with curious and innovative tracks like this, it's sure to be successful.
