Short, Loud, Fast

This is such a party record, the Suicide Machines have always been good, the songs are loud, fast and concise, fans of punk, ska and hardcore should all love them and this CD just further cements this belief.

I can practically smell the sweat flying past me when imagining this in a live environment; it's so raw and unapologetically punk. It's very catchy and contains elements reminiscent of all your favourite old school punk bands, Rancid on 'Out Come The Wolves', early Offspring and Reel Big Fish. Heck by 'Junk' I'm restraining myself from skanking in my seat. I'd love to say there was something original here, but as good a CD this is, it's one of those timeless CD's that sounds like it could've come out in 1994 and what makes it so good in the present day is that very few people are doing this type of music on such a professional, well produced level.

The Suicide Machines live by the rule of thumb that good songs don't exceed 3 minutes. Ever. So though the songs retain their youthful, energetic spunk the CD does end up feeling rather short, highlights include 'Nuclear Generators', 'Capitalist Suicide', 'I Went On Tour For 10 Years...' and 'Ghost On Sunset Strip', but this CD is just one big fun roller coaster from start to finish, you feel like you don't have time to breathe in between songs, much like the live experience all in the comfort of your own room. The final song on the CD contains some bitingly honest political commentary about the state of America today and ties the CD off at a brilliant point. This record will hit you in the stomach hard, and take your breath away, then you'll get up, dance around and feel even better than before, worth it if just for the manic atmosphere it creates alone.
