Bullets for teeth - Six sides of Fortune

The band formed in September 2003 and since then their popularity has steadily grown, so that they finally got to record their first album, 'Six Sides of Fortune'.

I must say that for a debut album those guys really kick *****. Loads of bands just don't have this maturity and unique sound even after having been on the scene for years.

Bullets for teeth's music is extremely powerful, with catchy tunes and vocals that are just amazing; at last a band that puts rock back to its best level!
Whether you're listening to 'Sick of it', 'Checkmate' or 'Skum Central', you get immediately caught by their music; it is impossible not to get into their songs as all sound just perfect. The band has not been together for such a long time but the chemistry is perfectly working.

'Something's black' is a softer track on the album proving once again that rock bands are the best at creating slower songs. Moreover a twist on this track is a Latino tune that just adds a bit of charm to one of the best tracks on the album.

'Six sides of Fortune' is not the best track on the album even though it has the same energy as all the other ones but something is missing, maybe one of those little twists that really get you into their sound.
As I thought there could not be more energy in their songs, 'C'nut' concentrates all the rage Charlie has, as the track is faster, heavier than any other one on the album. Some bits of it, the verses, reminds me of those you can hear in 'Duality' by Slipknot : same power, same energy.

The last track of 'Six sizes of Fortune' is a perfect ending to this surprising debut album mixing heavy sounds with more cooler ones, getting fast at times and slowing down at others.
Overall this album is an outstanding first opus; not too surprising when the producer is none other than Pete Brown who worked with George Harrison or Anathema!

Now there is just one wish that needs to be fulfilled : to see them on concert and check whether they are as good live as on their album. Six sides of Fortune is out today, so if you want to hear rock at its best, then go and get it!
