Grand Unification? Disappointingly average more like

For a British band, Fightstar sound all American - and that isn't a compliment. There isn't a trace of Britishness in there, and it may not surprise you to know, given this is Charlie from Busted's new band, that 'Grand Unification' is utterly generic. Also, given that Busted connection, there are a lot of people wanting Fightstar to fail and with a song like this I can see why. Maybe the first couple of crunching chords sound vaguely promising but after that, the only way is downhill.

Elsewhere, they've been described as 'heavy, emotional rock' and 'stunning post-hardcore' but these are totally wide of the mark. It's emo, through and through, from the agonised guitars to horribly angsty vocals. It's not even Fightstar's best song, and they could've picked something like 'Mono'. So, it's fair to say that 'Grand Unification' is rather disappointing.

No doubt teenage girls all over the country are going to love this and make it successful, but if there was any justice this would sink like a stone.
