‘I Am the Party’ sounds rather like the name of an Andrew WK song. Luckily, it displays more intelligence and is the twisting, turning creation of a rising four piece named Million Dead. Containing slick lyrics alongside guitars that sound almost like The Strokes at melting point, ‘I Am The Party’ reeks of sweat and emotion.
Frank Turner’s voice slides up, down into a yell reminiscent of having a large dog snap at your heels and back into the comparatively stable ‘normal’ state which fits the lyrics like a well worn velvet glove. B-side ‘Mute Group’ is an enjoyable contrast, it’s sinister introduction gives an uncluttered demonstration of what this band are hoping to achieve.
