Hearts that fit the fold

Piebald are so sweet. So, SO sweet. And lovely. That's what this DVD makes me think - I had never heard anything by the band before I watched this and so was pleasantly surprised to find that they weren't stupid lotharios, but in fact, rather charmingly warm and....sweet characters. Whether they're teaching you the way forward - vegetable oil instead of petrol to run their band van; singing you impromptu songs or just entertaining their munchkin-like fans, Piebald keep your heart warm and glowing, bouncing along with them on the ride to plains sunny and free.

As I wasn't aware of the band's music before this DVD was placed in my hands, I had no expectations, but I must say it did wind in live clips of the band playing with the history and random tour bits really well, though the quality of sound in the performances came across as truly abysmal on video. Thankfully the random pasting together of scenes and stories made the DVD a joy to watch and not seem to drag on the way some music DVDs can. Fairly short in length anyway, the great bonus CD that comes with the DVD acts as a reinforcement tool as to why you should adore this band. Fans will love the extra clips and the intro in which each band member ends up in some sort of shambolic mess one after another, that somehow makes it feel the members of this band could very well be your boy next door or best friend.

This is a fun, light-hearted look at a touring band that cares and has real fun; there are no groupies, sex tapes, and coke lines snorted, this isn't Motley Crue back in their hey day. For a new fan this DVD is endearing and welcomes you into the fold, for an old fan this is a definite buy for your Piebald collection. Ah Piebald, such sweethearts, their mothers should be proud...
