Fightstar - Waste A Moment

So much has been said about Fightstar that the emphasis seems to have moved away from the music and more onto just 'Charlie From Busted'. You either like Fighstar because it's cool to like the band that everyone hates, or you hate Fightstar because it's cool to hate the band that killed Busted. Well I decided to take a step back and try and actually review this single as just any other from a massively hyped rock band, produced by the guy that worked with Slipknot and FFAF.

The overall feel of 'Waste A Moment' is melancholic melodic stadium rock. Charlie's vocals are quite passionate but only on the surface. His voice is well suited to the music and has been heavily produced but seems to lack the kind of gritty edge it really needs to give credibility to the song. The structure is pretty formulaic and nothing really stands out as being particularly interesting. The song works quite well as a whole but lacks passion and grit. I'm sure people will either love it or hate it, I'm just pretty indifferent.
