Brilliant return from snarly,blues rockers.

Overlooked blues rockers Archie Bronson Outfit return with a rollicking new single 'Dart For My Sweetheart.' If the title didn't give the impression that the band are still fighting their corner, the opening scratchy bass runs and duelling guitar riff welcomes the band back sounding as good as, if not better than, ever.

With the snappy vocals evoking John Lydon's strained P.I.L. deliveries, the track has an edgy feel brightened by some lighter backing vocals and the twang of the guitar near the fade. As a single, it's guaranteed to turn heads and burn ears as long as it receives some airplay.

As if to prove the single isn't a one-off, the two bonus tracks battle for supremacy and the mix of the two bonus songs adds more depth to the palette of the band.

B-side 'In The Shadow Of Love' is a soft lament and features Leila Moss from the Duke Spirit on guest vocals, and the track utilises her trademark whimper and howl to good effect. Musically, the track is very sparse and the chorus hints at Nirvana's 'Something In The Way.' It's different from the common perception of an Archie Bronson Outfit track but is no less convincing.

Closing track 'Fire Horse' continues the same feel as the lead track and burns away with a passion sadly missing from many current acts, particularly for a B-side. The vocals are muted but fire repeatedly and the shotgun feel to the listener's head is compounded by the non-stopping guitar riff and driving drums.

The Archie Bronson outfit never got much press or exposure on their first record but some strong support slots and hard touring was starting to build up their name. With the material on show on this comeback release there is no reason as to why the band can't exceed hopes or expectations from the last time, all they need is to be given a chance.
