Mystery Jets: The Boy Who Ran Away Single
Welcome to yet another release from yet another indie act. A likeable enough tune 'The Boy Who Ran Away' is a very high energy breathless three minutes of jangly indie rock which does have a light sense of fun to it. But despite that it all feels pretty unoriginal and very much run of the mill and off a musical assembly line.
The sparse instrumentals underneath the vocals give it a slightly interesting edge but the vocals sound very samey and could easily get lost amongst Editors, Bloc Party or Franz Ferdinand.
As with most songs being released in this genre at the moment you're not going to get anything too awe inspiring but it's inoffensive and a bit of fun and will definitely find an audience for those people who don't like to rock the musical boat too much.
