Another Hit Record for Mozzer

We all know about Morrissey's persona as Mr. Miserable, and maybe despite or possibly as a result of this, he still has a habit of producing fantastic indy pop music. 'First of the Gang to Die' and 'English Blood Irish Heart' are both excellent recent singles and the first from 'Ring Leader of the Tormentors' sees Morrissey at the top of his game. This track also suggests his new album is set to be another strong collection of songs.

There is the inevitable melancholy about Morrissey's vocals, plus the title itself 'You Have Killed Me' certainly suggests a downbeat offering. However as with 'First of the Gang to Die' the up tempo nature of the music makes this overall a feel good and up lifting track.

If it wasn't for the unstoppable juggernaught that is the Gnarls Barkley track 'Crazy', which has entered the UK singles chart at number one on download sales alone, Mozzer might have stood a better chance of getting his first chart topper. Even though it's unlikely he'd have been remotely bothered either way it would have been nice to see him pull it off.

So a couple of years where his solo work has put him right back at the forefront of British alternative music, arena tours and a main stage appearance at Reading and Leeds, capped off by his forthcoming headline performance at this summer's V Festival; Morrissey is back at his peak, making music as good as when The Smiths were at their best.
