Masterful otherworldly galaxy-conquering tunes from these ex-Beta Banders

Formed by two ex-members of The Beta Band and an ex-founding member of The Beta Band who went on to record two solo albums under the name Lone Pigeon, The Aliens are a combination of Scotland's finest quirky songsters. The Alienoid Starmonica EP starts off with the crazy amalgamation of sounds that is 'Hey Leanne', which actually sounds like a roadside UFO abduction; from driving along, to the car conking out, the bright lights and levitation into the mothership, to the anal probing and back to being in the car, looking at the clock and no time's past...

'Only Waiting' is where it all kicks off though after our wonderful filmic introduction, it's a proper jaunty swing fest, like The Beatles meet Stereolab at the corner of Penny Lane. 'Robot Man' is the super-cool stuff however, sounding like the best intergalactic sci-fi party ever hosted in the whole universe, a million aliens shaking their funky antennas and spindly arms to the groove is easily imaginable. 'Ionas (Look For Space)' sounds like your typical 70's mega-space anthem, but far more credible and with a chilled atmosphere that resembles non-gravity.

The Aliens: Think your average comedy pub-band with their songs about spaceships and galaxy-quests, but really really good...
