Messy single from Northern Irish lads

As soon as you learn that Shibuya Crossings are from roughly the same place as Ash, it begs the inevitable comparison and this time it's pretty accurate. Except it gets caught up in the Snow Patrol net and things get a little messy.

'Typically Everyone Thinks You're Dead' is a catchy piece of indie pop but, by the time 'She Knows Me' rolls around, it merely sounds bland.
It's clear that Declan Harrington, the main guy in the band, had some great ideas to start off with. The swirling, psychedelic keyboard of the title track add a nice touch and it's definitely memorable. Even 'Best I've Ever Had' has its twisted rock-out moments although it seems to be clinging on to the mid-nineties. 'She Knows Me' doesn't show off either Harrington's songwriting or vocal skills, and its shoegazing Britpop sounds strained.

If there seems to be no coherence between all three songs then that's because it's representative of the album, 'Songs for Lovesick Teenagers'. For a debut single, this isn't a bad choice, but it may struggle to compete with the rest of the stuff out there.
