No DJs will waste their time here!

If you talk to somebody north of the border about exciting new bands, there's every chance they'll tell you about The View.

Formed in Dundee three years ago, the band can play to crowds of over 500 in Scotland, even though their only release to date has been one very limited addition EP. They're biggest gig to date must surely have been at the Radio 1 Big Weekend in their home city in may, and now they're ready to hit the UK with their debut single 'wasted Little DJs'.

This track, as with their debut album, has been produced by Owen Morris, the man behind the Verve's 'Northern Soul and Oasis' 'Definitely Maybe'.

The great thing about this single is that, although it fits well alongside much of the alternative rock the UK is producing right now, there is also a real throw back to pre-Brit Pop, maybe the influence of Morris shining through. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is that makes me think this, but the name Sugar flashed through my brain when listening to 'Wasted Little DJs'.

I often use the phrase "simple but effective" when describing songs, as that's what appeals to me. This single is both of those things. It has energetic guitar rifts, a pounding bass line and a chorus hook which after two or three listens is with you for the rest of the week.

In the same way as the early Oasis tracks did, there is a tangible excitement generated by the opening rifts to this single. To tip them for greatness on the strength of one song might be getting carried away, but I do think we're dealing with a band who need to be watched.
