Parka/Mr Fogg split single review

This is a double A-side single, Parka vs Mr Fogg. Side A is Disco Dancer by Parka and is probably one for the indie disco crowd. It sounds a lot like Dead 60s or Radio 4 or Klaxons (but not as heavy and interesting as the latter) and has a kind of ska beat mixed with guitars, presumably trying to go for that rock/dance crossover that is becoming tired really quickly. It's not particularly interesting or catchy and the vocals are intentionally 'kooky' and a little bit irritating.

The AA side, Seciov by Mr Fogg is a lot more interesting and listenable. It's quite a lot like The Postal Service; dreamy, floaty, reasonably danceable indie with samples which are melancholy and uplifting at the same time, and the vocals are appropriately winsome. It also has a bass line that sounds just like it was written by The Cure which is always a bonus.
