Palace Fires Single Review
This two track single from Palace Fires has a really laid-back folk/indie feel; the acoustic sounding guitars on the opening track, 'Nothing Comes Close' lead into a meandering song that drifts along at it's own pace. It's a well meaning enough but not very inspiring mainstream indie tune that sounds a lot like a folkier version of Starsailor, even the vocals sound like Starsailor's front man, James Walsh, which doesn't bode too well, however...
On 'Peace Be With You' (track two) things pick up slightly, this tune is definitely the better of the two and sounds less like Starsailor and more like Palace Fires, luckily. It has a much more dreamy sound and more upbeat and reflective lyrics which almost sound like the words to a prayer, whether this is intentional or not. Unfortunately though, neither track really goes anywhere and the single as a whole meanders a bit too much to be particularly memorable.
