Right place, right time

A dreamy slice of lovelorn acoustic soul that sounds like Doves or perhaps Elbow on Prozac, 'A Place For You' is the perfect single to soundtrack a lazy Sunday afternoon. Anglo-New Zealand trio Breaks Co-Op (Hamish Clark, Andy Lovegrove and err... Zane Lowe) definitely have the edge over their chill-out peers and in Lovegrove a vocalist of undoubted quality. Acoustic guitars jangle against a backdrop of sedate strings whilst Lovegrove provides a deliciously luxuriant vocal performance full of soul. Considering the rather tepid state of acoustic guitar music right now this is a most welcome reminder that there's more to the genre than James Blunt and James Morrison. As a follow up to their Top 10 airplay hit 'The Otherside' the band couldn't really have made a better choice as this is one of the best acoustic pop songs to have been released all year. This record will give the romantically inclined a warm glow inside and hopefully it will also ensnare a few more listeners to the worthy Breaks Co-Op cause.
