Debut single from Virginian artist.

The debut single from Virginia-born Ross Copperman, unsettlingly entitled 'As I Choke', is an interesting affair. Beginning with a fuzzy guitar sequence which segues into a piano-led intro, Ross's vocals begin, with his voice situated somewhere near to Matt Bellamy, with no Southern twang in evidence. This would apparently be because Ross cut his teeth on a diet of English music such as Led Zeppelin, Oasis, Muse and Radiohead, and has recently relocated to our shores

The dark title aptly represents a song presumably about the breakdown of a relationship, with lyrics such as "you crush me like a stone" and "you watch me as I choke". With the controlled volume of Muse beneath it, the sound of this song perfectly compliments its anguished content.

With his debut album set for release early next year Ross Copperman appears to be in a very strong position. His single is certainly on the right side of striking, with its perfectly judged influences as a backbone, Ross has created an interesting and dark slice of Indie-Rock which is musically excellent and emotionally loaded.
