Back again with as little luck in love as ever…

After almost two years away from our charts, The Calling return from the school of soppy rock ballads with this catchy single from their new album ‘Two’, “Anything” contains the same caring and catchy indie hooks so prevalent in the band’s major hit “Wherever You Will Go”.

Lamenting and lovelorn as ever, singer Alex Band’s vocals are full of warmth and closeness, soaring through aching chorus and pensive verse alike. Melodic guitars and understated but moving backing vocals provide the unique quirks that ‘Anything’ apart from other guitar-based love songs. Tender, but built on solid guitar hooks, The Calling are sure to melt the hearts of teenage girls, but do little for the real rockers out there.

‘Anything’ continues to beg the question “Do The Calling ever have success in love?” Unlikely according to their plaintive, dare I say desperate lyrics, however they may be faced with the refreshing success of saving themselves from being consigned to the great list of one hit wonders.
