Truly Toxic

Mark Ronson is billed as a visionary who turns tracks on their heads to produce brand new dance numbers, unfortunately with 'Toxic' one can't help but feel that Ronson has messed with a reasonable tune and turned it into something distinctly disinteresting. Essentially the tune has been slowed down into a brassy r'n'b-inspired dirge, which I suppose could add for more slow grinding booty-shaking, if it didn't feel so horrifically drawn out, even Dirt McGirt's rap injection doesn't add much interest to this. The brass licks just seem to creep in a rather disconcerting way with the chorus dragging, rather than catching your ears.

As someone with remix skills I have to say that instead of picking on this tired Britney track, I'd do something far more outlandish, say add some Axl Rose style extreme guitarwork, which certainly would suit Miss Spears' usually shredded attire. Not Ronson's finest moment, it's rather like a car crash to listen to; you know it's awful but you're so curious that you have to carry on listening.
