A Promising Songwriter

Danny Sage has recently been touring with ex-D-Generation buddy Jesse Malin and it seems that time mellows punk anarchic tendencies as Sage's EP follows suit with striding acoustic ambition.

'Something For Nothing' still channels a vitriolic tendency with its impassioned refrain of, "You'll never get something for nothing" buzzing above a sprightly piano melody and Sage's aggressive strumming. 'Hold On Tight' has a similar feel with Sage's vocals high in the production to create an intimate feel as the lone troubadour serenades you with his upbeat wisdom, this is the tune that has the most instant hook and could mostly easily stand up in the market as a single.

Lulling guitar tunes are Sage's speciality with a collection of musing, introspective but stirring tunes that lilt along with the sincerity of one man and a guitar catching the listener's ear. Closer, 'No One Loves You Now' may sound hideously depressing in its title, but it's a soft and touching ballad that will have you bawling along after a few pints too many, but also in awe of its simple charm.

In a live arena Danny Sage's acoustic numbers may lack the power that a backing band could bring, but the simple intensity of these EP tracks gives them a real emotional charge.
