Just What Punk Rock Needs

The Disappointments are 4 young lads from Stoke-On-Trent who play their own brand of feisty punk rock with a hell of a lot of attitude. They formed in 2004 and recorded their first studio EP one year later, not long after they signed to indie label Fierce Panda home to Winnebago Deal and Capdown and it is definitely no surprise to see why.

With the band's influences ranging from melodic punk rockers Rise Against, Bad Religion and Anti–Flag to the no nonsense hardcore of Minor Threat and The Bled they are unmistakeably staying true to their passions.

They write catchy, melodic, pumped up and fast paced punk rock with a political slant and a hard edge and considering the band has an average age of 18 this is done with an incredibly mature sound. Stand out tracks include the politically charged 'No Charades' with lyrics like, "One more soldier reporting I've served my time in hell" and title track 'Reasons To Revolt' with its furious driven energy and guitar riffs it certainly proves that the band are not messing around.

Every track on Reasons To Revolt is fuelled with the passion and driving energy that this type of music so sorely needs to differentiate itself and stand above the meaningless drivel spouted by many so-called punk acts of this time. A genre that is as underrated as this one needs a band like The Disappointments to add to its roster.

The 6 tracks although played with musical maturity and a strong dedication are somewhat raw with that youthful energy only a band that is starting out seems to have. They have a long time ahead and a great deal of potential to develop into something big. But there is an obvious talent here. The Disappointments are something to watch out for in the future. If you like your punk rock passionate and energetic with a point to prove then you will definitely like this. For fans of Anti-Flag, Strike Anywhere and Rise Against.
