good but lightweight

Whatever happened to Defenestration? Perhaps someone threw them out of a window? Geddit? Sorry couldn't resist, anyway guitarists Rob Reeves and Scott Warner formed Gunning for Goliath almost immediately after Defenestration split and here for your consideration is their first single with an album on the way soon.

For the life of me I can't figure out who this reminds me of, but I will say it sounds very American, that singalong kind of rock that gets a video featuring the band playing in a disused warehouse whilst lots of 'kids' run down dirty streets to get there for the last chord. It bundles along at a fair old clip with a great drum line that keeps kicking it up the arse. Singer Adam Fowkes has a good voice that plays a welcome counterpoint to the churning guitars and makes the song a good thrashalong (hey I just invented a new word) that you can nod to.

It's not going to tax you and if it's an indication of the album there will be lots of good solid but forgettable songs. This four track promo I received backs that theory up with all the songs pretty good in their own right but once they've finished they're gone.
There's an acoustic version of Anaemia on their myspace page.
