The Puzzle - You're So Cruel

Hungarian indie four-piece The Puzzle have built up a massive following in Eastern Europe, they moved to London three years ago to restart their career. Now, the band are releasing their new single 'You're So Cruel'.

'You're So Cruel' features the legendary Mark Bolan's son Rolan on backing vocals that add a bit of soul to the track. Frontman George Ligeti, who co-produced the track, has a gravely voice which puts me in mind of Kelly Jones. The problem is at points Ligeti seems to mumble making it very difficult to understand what he is singing about, and it's slightly annoying, although I imagine The Puzzle fans will claim that it is his trademark. Funky guitars and a steady drumbeat save this track, for the music alone it's a pleasure to listen to, I'm just not sure about Ligeti's vocal work, maybe Rolan Bolan should have had sole vocal duty.

'You're So Cruel' is a funky little number which is definitely more east London than Eastern Europe, not bad for a debut single.
