It might not help you to count, but it's a good listen anyway...

The Magic Numbers are the sound of stereos to come. Believe the hype, The Magic Numbers have nailed a style that’s so original and friendly that it can do nothing but evoke the love of all music fans out there. Warm and homely, sweet and heavenly, the essence of the comfort found in sound. This double-A side is a beautiful triumph.

Coming as a seven-inch single, deliciously packed in limited edition sleeve with two super-cool stickers, the aesthetic value will have you head-over-heels before you even put stylus to vinyl. And when the needle does hit the groove, after a little lovely crackle, fizzle, pop, one of the finest-constructed songs you could ever wish to hear begins with a few welcoming picked guitar chords, slightly folky in their deliverance and flows on to the opening vocal line and your trapped. Luscious.

The song builds and builds creating the greatest crescendo since Carl Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana’. Its almost the perfect tune and gets better with every subsequent listen, definitely winning my vote for best single of the year and gaining a top grade for being so nice and easy whilst complex and gratifying of dedication. Sirens couldn’t sing it sweeter.

Of course ‘Hymn For Her’ isn’t the only A-side on this record, it flips and ‘Oh Sister’ is placed on the turntable awaiting play. Beginning with the slightly wild sound of trumpets and quickly dissolving into the first verse, you’re immediately in awe. Then your soul is rewarded with a chorus made in a celestial rehearsal room. The voice duet and succulent musicianship in this chorus alone mark The Magic Numbers as a standout and timeless act.

You will hear this track, this band will be big and quite rightly so, deserving of all good that comes their way for all the good they’re putting into the world in the form of brilliantly crafted pop delights. No group has delivered these types of songs with so much clout since Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’ in ’77. Look out for The Magic Numbers for if you don’t see them coming, you’ll be wowed from behind, either way, their infectious pop records will work their way into your brain before you can say ‘oh…’ Full marks to them.
