David Ford - Decimate

‘Decimate’ is tuneful, nice-sounding pop. It’s the kind that will earn David Ford unfair comparisons to boring people like David Gray or James Blunt. So what’s Decimate got that makes Ford a bit different?

For one thing, it has a gorgeous string arrangement. I’m talking of a sound more refined than fine wine and understated too to make you relish it when it steps out to the limelight in the instrumental phase. The same goes for all the parts of the song. In that instrumental part, Ford sings just a little bit less and the better bits of the song take over.

His sings well but his voice has a slight hint of the detached air of a Gray, a Blunt or a Johnson. At any rate, the comparison is unfair. This song is good.
