Inspiring Indie Folk

Put together soft-voiced indie starlet Scout Niblett and Scottish folk sensation Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and the results were bound to be impressive. Sparks really fly as the two begin to duet on the slow, deliberate and understated bluesy ballad that is, 'Kiss'. Guitar strings bend with aching precision and violins slow sigh as Billy and Scout lament, "A kiss could have killed me baby, if it were not for rain". The instrumentation is sparse with a real country feel to the guitars which maintain purposeful restraint to give full body and flavour to the lines of the stirring duet. The lyrics draw upon basic human desires and cannot fail but to tug on the heartstrings as the bluesy licks sway you to your feet.

Scout Niblett's own vocals, beautifully seductive with a harsh edge ready to cut when necessary, are equally well showcased on the delightful live b-side, 'Do You Want To Be Buried With My People'. This young lady is very special indeed.
