The faux Frank Blank drawl and barn dance country is smacking distinctly of novelty to my ears but perhaps its better not to know one way or the other.
Three totally and utterly shameless hay chewing hoedowns, complete with slide, ukulele and licquored up hollering. This sounds like Weird Al Yankovic doing Neil Young.
'Merry Go Round' and 'Sweet Lil Cheat' have been written thousands of times before and and are both silly, stupid fun if you happen to be in a good enough mood to suppress the bitter cynicism. All together now - "OH-WE-OH!!.."
'The Stink' is a tad more substantial, though is indebted to Hayseed Dixie's bluegrass re-workings of classic rock staples and could well be Deep Purple with the guitars turned up and the ridiculous accented vocals smoothed out. I feel like a spoilsport..
Made me smile at least, how could you not with lines like "You're a stupid man, with your nuts in your hand".
