Dark Sparks - Blood Petrol Fire
Upon first listening to this track, it sounds like the lads had been working long and hard for a long time. It was a shock to me that they had only formed in January 2007!
The track opens on a high note, with electrics pounding and sparks flying. But it quickly calms being much more focused on its aim; to make people dance and have a blast. As I listened, I found myself not really getting the lyrics, until I read them. ‘Blood Petrol Fire’ is a track, which seems to be about a car accident, and the effects that such an experience can have. When knowing this, I found I had to listen to it again and I am glad I did.
With a second listen I had much more appreciation for the indie rock vocals and accompanying instrumentals. I am not sure why, but listening to the song for a second time gave me a higher sense of admiration and appreciation for the song. 2008 is going to be a year of more great music and talented musicians bringing what they got to the table. Dark Spark has a lot to offer.
