Schizoid furries
Late of the Pier might hail from Castle Donington but that’s all they have in common with the illustrious rock history of the place. This is a strange hybrid of a single that mixes indie with psychedelic breaks all smothered with a liberal dose of samples and dance beats.
‘The Bears Are Coming’ isn’t bad but then I‘d stop some way short of saying it was good! There are a few catchy moments but overall it just feels like a completely disjointed song that is made up of four or five other songs that they couldn’t quite finish. The overall feel therefore is a haphazard offering that is likely to confuse more than it appeals. There’s certainly some promise in there and I suspect that if they can get the crowd on side then as a live band they could be highly entertaining. With only one track to go on here the jury is very much out on Late of the Pier.
