Post-Folk-Punk

(Riot) post-folk-punk VIOLINBAGPIPES! and semi-orchestral ska. AFE is a lot of things. Their music is good and their lyrics are good ... in a punk way. The music can go from danceably maudlin to danceably fun within the same song, which is great. If you listen and dislike at first, give it another spin because this band can grow on a person. The fun-ness reminds me of Henri Faberge and the Adorables, but a little less passionate, which is a bummer.

They aren't a pop-produced band, either. They seem pretty genuine in their DIY approach, and apparently their live shows feature something like 14 performers who either play or dance with the crowd. They are part of a scene and contribute to it wonderfully. In fact, the band is big enough to be its own scene, so that's cool, too!

If Apples For Everyone is anything like most post-rock-folk bands, they'll be more fun live than on recordings. See them live and dance with them! Ask if you can play with them! Do It Yourself! VIOLINBAGPIPES!
