Goodbye 21st Century

'Too Much 21st Century' is the first release from post-goth/punk/glam rock institution Bauhaus' latest album, 'Go Away White'. It's a slick slice of bluesy beats, funk-infused bass and stark, psychedelic vocal harmonies. With all this early rock spirit and 60's chillout feel flying around, it's easy to believe that the band really are sick of the 21st century, especially as they complain that, "They all want to be something better; a better singer, a better actor". Bauhaus seem to have avoided this contemporary lust for more, sticking to their own creative guns rather than bowing down to the call of the times. 'Too Much 21st Century' isn't an initially striking tune but it's a mellow and pleasing listen with vibrant vocals and funky guitars, although it's hard to describe as catchy.
