The candy twins

Well, The Candy Twins really have taken accessibility to the next level with this E.P. The opening track and new single, 'Younger Crowd', is presented to the audience in two versions or should I say “Zwei” versions. One in English and the other in German! Perhaps it’s just me, but jingly pop music with happy-go-lucky guitars just doesn’t sound the same with the dullard ramblings of the German dialect.

And it turns out that although the Candy Twins sound entirely different in the German language, it is in fact still an incessantly boring attempt at infectious pop music backed by smile clad middle aged men in leather jackets they wore when they danced the be-bop to the Happy Days theme tune.

'Start To Believe' seems too smarmy and falsely happy for a song that lacks any real determination to create something to be described as pop music, while 'Dance Me To Heaven' appears to be a pop idol contestants attempt at begrudgingly creating a song by The Cure, and failing with disastrous consequences.

Apparently the worst thing is that these wedding singers have been compared to The Kinks and Paul Weller, a deluded comparison at best! Riddled with cringing harmonies like a diseased rodent and packed with lyrics which release the odorous stench of a bad cliché.
