Karen David - the Live Sessions EP

‘The Lives Sessions EP’ is the perfect introduction to Karen David, a beautiful young Asian woman, who has a beautiful voice to match her good looks.

She cleverly mixes Asian flavours with contemporary songs to create a sound that is unique to her and a joy to listen to, that said ‘Pink Glasses’ sounds like it could have been lifted from a Misteeq back catalogue. The tracks on this EP are very laid back and chilled and they show off the versatility in David’s voice. When you look at her background, born in India, grew up in Toronto and currently based in London it becomes instantly clear where the diversity in her music comes from.

Opening track ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ is the track that really shows off her Eastern roots, and pays homage to the Bollywood movie Dum Maro Dum, but for me ‘Pink Glasses’ is the standout track and it is likely to catapult this young lady into the mainstream.

Karen David’s multicultural sound is brilliant and she deserves every success, many people would shy away from their background as a means to further themselves, but not her, and it really does give her music a distinctive edge. I’m looking forward to hearing a lot more from this young lady.
