Jape - I Was A Man

How do you describe what Dublin based Jape is like? Well, “I Was A Man”, the latest single to be taken from his debut album “Ritual” is as good an introduction as any in this up and coming artist from across the Irish Sea.

This electronic based mixed in with rock and roll style intro kicks off in fine style. Richie Egan, the force behind Jape then signs along and you think the song is just going to carry on as a normal pop single albeit with lyrics like “I popped my cherry to November Rain”. Just after two minutes into the song the electronic influence comes out with all guns blazing all too briefly. On the other mixes of the single the electronic style is more obvious.

With the debut album having reached number 15 in the Irish album charts and an appearance at Glastonbury Festival recently, it is possible that you may find yourself dancing away to Jape this summer.
