Summer Songs

It might sound like an unlikely mix but Barnsley’s boisterous foursome Raised By Animals sound like The Supremes, Stevie Wonder and The Flaming Lips all mashed up together in a giant musical blending machine.

Revue is their new five track E.P and it’s a fresh little piece of work. Like a cold beer on a warm day it does the job pretty well and then becomes completely irrelevant. This isn’t a bad thing, it’s just throw away indie pop at it’s most enterprising. Lyrically all the major bases are covered - love, friendship etc and the instrumentals are as melodic as you’ll hear anywhere. The standout being the boldly named ‘Tickled Pink’, a jaunty little ditty so perfectly reminiscent of early Rod Stewart you could be forgiven for thinking it was a long lost Faces track

Unsophisticated, unadulterated, unashamed feel good summertime pop • just the way we all like it!
