A Broken Robot that fix all the right records
Four blokes all with a passion to make the best music that they have hidden deep within themselves that they can let flow with easy onto listeners…this is A Broken Robot.
With an indie style and some pop melodies through which this record develops, these tracks surge with riffs and energy driven harmonies that are particularly distinctive on ‘Hey You. Space Ranger’. For much of the time it seems that the band are out to make an impact, an explosion that never manages to rise to the surface and kick a listener in the shin. By the time the third track, ‘All Here’ hits, a slightly electronic stem begins to grow out of the song. This side flow also crosses path with ‘Smoke! Smoke! Smoke!’ where it hits out with a few chimes like cowbells and an underpinning edge.
With songs recalling tales of late nights, teen abandonment issues and sticky floors in basement clubs, these tracks still remain optimistic and hopeful.
The band have been lucky enough to share the stage with some incredible bands such as I Was A Cub Scout, Dartz, Furthest Drive Home and The Attika State to name but a few. Whether they have the oomph to transcend the success these bands have received and transport to new levels of accomplishment is beyond the knowledge of this reviewer but I grantee the next year will reveal all.
