Sweet lo-fi bleeps.

Capitol K (aka Kristian Robinson)has had moments of genius in the past ‘Pillow‘ (from way back in 2000)probably being the most well known of his tunes; mixing up a lo-fi indie sensibility with an electronica/dance edge • he was there at the beginning of the indie/electronic crossover and one of first people I remember doing this kind of mix up.

This single is pretty good, perhaps not at the edge of genius but quite fun; the lo-fi/electronica is all still evident; guitars vie for attention with sweet vocals and keyboards amongst quirky little bleeps , loops and samples on ‘Libertania’ it’s catchy, summery and cute, lifting your spirits nicely but the over the top ‘English’ accent is a bit pointless. ‘Go Go Go’ is a little too 80s inspired for my taste, but still in keeping with the gentle feel. Obviously produced on a budget, sounds very much like it might have been recorded in someone’s bedroom, but the lo-fi quality of the Capitol K style as a general rule means the single doesn’t suffer from this, in fact it adds to the charm of the thing.
