Over EP
Listening to the first track on Mama Shamone’s EP, Over, is like stepping straight onto the dirtiest, sweatiest dancefloor where inhibitions have long been lost amongst a melee of decadent commotion. Except they already want to take you home. Alas, all you are going to get is aural pleasure; funky slabs of infectious electro rock brought to life by brash lead singer Mama. Whilst Mama is the bands outlet when she effortlessly lets such sordid lyrics fit like a hand in glove, every member has their own piece to bring to the riot. Flip X’s passionate guitar, Killer Jules' vigorous drumming with Ru’s bass keeping it all ticking over notoriously.
Tempo remains relentless throughout and as Feel draws the EP to an unruly climax what springs to mind is how well their live show must be. Little surprise then that the band are competing on ’Road To V’ as this sort of unabashed sleaze will always go down well live. Judging by this with any luck Mama Shamone will be bringing their effervescent funky choons further than just V Festival.
