Underwhelming pop-rock.

This self-titled, self-released EP from Austrian quintet, One Match For My Existence, is all heavy chugging riffs and melodic easy on the ear vocals but it’s so painfully generic and obvious that you’ll soon drift off, wondering where you’ve heard it all before; including the lyrics. Some names that spring to mind are Thrice and Finch, and occasionally the similarity is so uncanny that it’s like listening to an EP of covers. Each track has chunky riffs, followed by a slower more melodic section, there are a couple of pretty decent tunes including ‘Spinning Too Fast’ which has a really catchy chorus, but unfortunately the familiarity of each track leaves you feeling underwhelmed. Musically, the saving grace of the EP is the acoustic version of ‘A Plague Inside’, which has some lovely guitar work, however, very nasal vocals take the shine off.
