You won't want to escape

Since their formation back in 2007, The Living Daylights has been touring and promoting their status in and around the UK and more importantly, recording material. When it comes to making a really great punk rock album, one that grabs you by the ears, snaps you into focus and keeps you entertained for the next hour or so, then ‘Ways To Escape’, the new release by The Living Daylights is a hot contender.

Although much of what the quintet has placed on this record may seem a little repetitive, the majority of songs consist of crashing drums and pulsating guitars, there are some songs that make an impact for the way in which they are moulded and driven by a melody all in their own. ‘Let Me Loose’ has a bouncier edge in its nature; ‘Wasted On Rain’ is constructed though sharp bursts of power while ‘Undertow’ finds a more relaxed use for the drum and guitar duo with its subtler melody.

One thing that remains a vital component is the amazing vocal attributes. The voice is full of power, aggression and ambition and comes together with the backing vocals to create some great sing-a-long vocal harmonies. ‘In Between’ is a song that could really unite the crowd while ‘Maps’ is slightly different as it takes on a more sentimental tone while remaining vocally strong.
