Us Against Them All

With a title like 'Us Against Them All' you are rightfully entitled to expect something emphatically triumphant. The lead track certainly includes swagger, but the forceful arrogance such a title pledges is marked only by its absence, this is just far too nice. At the exact point when lead singer Ed Quick’s masterful vocals reach their crescendo and you know the chorus is about to break in, not a lot happens. In fact, just where is the chorus, where are these bright, catchy melodies you promised? Instead we get meddling, mediocre guitar and little apart from those vocals to separate this effort from simply every other indie band.

'House Without A Door' begins in a similar vein; even with drums sounding as if coated with tea towels and distinctly flat notes you can still garner an impression of the Editors-esque likeness that Rev78 are attempting. Yet despite producer Ross Junk Scientist’s CV which boasts Clinic and The Rakes amongst others, this palpably sounds more like a demo than a polished debut single.
