Biography
Blasting out of Graz, Austria comes the political hardcore sounds of the ANTIMANIAX. Mixing up Leftover Crack's squatpunk noise with Propagandhi's more direct delivery they unleash no-nonsense political rage against the G8 group of rich nations, neo-nazis, animal rights abuses and many more heartfelt subjects, while still managing to make great music and have some fun.
ANTIMANIAX were formed by Georg, Tom and Chris in 1998, together with former drummer Tom Prittl. Prittl left the band in early 2000 and Beatbrats drummer Candy came on board. The first ANTIMANIAX demo in July 2000 was called 'We're tryin', and was sold punk rock style at shows all over central and eastern Europe. ANTIMANIAX debut mini album of punk rock based political hardcore-ska was released on Household Name Records in October 2002, featuring 10 tracks with the lyrics covering everything from animal rights to a recipe for chilli con tofu!! The band played over 100 shows in 2002, including three tours throughout the UK, a tour of Eastern Europe, and numerous one off gigs in various places.
ANTIMANIAX have gained a reputation for their frantic live shows, fearlessness in the face of amplifier stacks and for pioneering the guitar-case surfing movement. They are fierce believers in their anti-authoritarian politics, and embody the DIY punk ethic, writing their own songs, starting a gig collective in their hometown, setting up their own recording studio and recording themselves and other Graz bands.
2003 saw ANTIMANIAX continuing their touring across Europe, including a 5 week tour with infamous US punks LEFTOVER CRACK. This new mini album "I'm Without Sleep In A Desert Of Concrete" was released on Household Name Records in July, picking up where their last album left off.
