Biography

Herr Mayer - guitar / vocals
Mathew McGnasher - bass / vocals
Glacoma Panarisi - drums / vocals

Hulk was founded in the dark and dusty streets of St. Giles in Brussels. As a rock 'n roll trio they were inspired by acts like Elvis, MC5, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Motorhead The Sex Pistols and more recently bands such as Q.O.T.S.A.

The band's debut, the mini-album Kings Of The Night, kicked things off, but things really picked up when they released Party Time in 2003, which saw them spend the next year sharing stages with the likes of Monster Magnet, Gluecifer, Brant Bjork, The Bellrays and Mondo Generator, as well as Franz Ferdinand at Eurosonic 2004, where they were seen by a certain John Peel (R.I.P.) who played them a number of times on his Radio 1 show.

Every Hulk song has to be simple and direct like a kiss or a gunshot, but without losing the emotional aspects in their compositions. What makes Hulk irresistible is Renaud Mayeur's smooth catchy vocals in combination with his razor sharp and superb guitar playing - driven forward by the rumbling bass of Mathieu Dumont and the swinging grooves and shuffles of Giacomo Panarisi. Hulk are as seductive as an English-speaking French female student ordering a red wine in a sleazy bar while looking at you in a knowing manner. Hulk is tasteful, tempting, eclectic and dangerous at the same time and in every aspect. Hulk is here to bring back the sex and the swing into the rock 'n roll.

David Catching (active in acts like Eagles of Deathmetal, earthlings?, Mark Lanegan Band, and former guitar player of Q.O.T.S.A. and Mondo Generator), one of the leading people in the famous 'desert scene', invited the band to record their second full-length album in the illustrious Rancho de la Luna studio in the middle of the desert in Joshua Tree. Together with producer Mathias Schneeberger (well known from his work with earthlings?, Brant Bjork & the Bros and Goatsnake) they recorded and mixed 21 tracks in just 9 days. Thirteen of these tracks were chosen for Cowboy Coffee & Burned Knives.

With guest appearances by Chris Goss (Masters of Reality), Brant Bjork (BB & The Bros and ex-Kyuss, Fu Manchu), Jesse Hughes (Eagles of deathmetal), David Catching and Mathias Scheeberger this record is a genuine masterpiece which reveals the essence of pure rock 'n roll!
