Biography

FAITHLESSNESSLESS is twelve beautifully crafted songs from JOHN PARKES, front man for BBC Radio One night time indie guitar faves Greenhouse, Fuzzbird, The Sinister Cleaners and other great bands that almost broke through but never got the lucky break.

The irreplaceable John Peel played something from every record JOHN PARKES has made in his 15-year career to date. Peel introduced Mary-Ann Hobbs to John's songs, and Mark Radcliffe and Janice Long have enthused over more than one of his classics.

JOHN PARKES' songs are obsessions about love and longing, lust, religion, self-examination, the meaning of life, politics, television, angst and black humour. The songs are not indie rock without a band, nor are they folk songs. A little like Loudon Wainwright III with fewer jokes comes reasonably close.

JOHN PARKES played live with The Wedding Present and on their Peel Sessions. He also worked for them as a roadie / driver / technician. He turned down the Inspiral Carpets and also currently plays with Whole Sky Monitor read less
