ALike a river flowing with the blood of children, the music of The Abominable Iron Sloth encapsulates unbearable pain, deep loss, tragic sorrow and sheer terror within their withering onslaughts of horror metal riffage. Born from the ashes of Northern California metal outfit Oddman, The Abominable Iron Sloth sounds much as a band baptized in fire should: the horror of frontman Justin Godfrey's demon shrieks and detuned guitar carnage is matched only by the throbbing grind of Cayle Hunter's drums. "I'd Rather Die Than Fly," the opening cut off the band's self-titled EP, is three minutes of recorded death, with enveloping the world in emptiness and death, and celebrating the pain. Touring the country in the world's fastest, most diabolical tour vehicle, Hunter and Godfrey are traveling ministers of despair, preaching the gospel of hopelesses, with whiskey as holy water and the stage as a pulpit, worshiping the holy spirit of their namesake, The Abominable Iron Sloth.
