Biography

Founded in late 1997 by Mat Sinner (Sinner), Ralf Scheepers (Ex-Gamma Ray) and Tom Naumann (Sinner), the newborn Primal Fear shot straightaway to position 48 of the German album charts with their self titled debut. The follow-up 'Jaws Of Death' saw our favourite German Metal Commando turning into an International Metal revelation as the band conquered the stages of Europe, Brazil and Japan in 1999.

'Nuclear Fire' brought Primal Fear an even more recognition in 2001. The album (featuring the all time classics 'Angel In Black' and 'Nuclear Fire') received rave reviews and scored the band's highest chart positions so far (# 37 in Germany, # 23 in Japan amongst others)

Primal Fear embarked on a sold out tour all across Europe, South America and played their first festivals in the US. Enhancing their sound with experimental and progressive edges in their songwriting, 2002's 'Black Sun' was another step forward for Primal Fear. And of course it led the band to more charts and tour success!

In the meantime, founding member Tom Naumann made his comeback to replace Henny Wolter on guitar. In 2003, one of the most respected metal drummers, Canadian Randy Black (Ex-Annihilator, Bif Naked) joined the folds. This killer line up immediately conquered the U.S. for the 'Metal Gods' tour and released
the massive 'Devil's Ground'album in early 2004.

This landmark album featured the immortal hymn 'Metal Is Forever' that placed the band firmly in the charts throughout Europe and Japan while more live tours followed across Europe, the US and South America.

How can this be surpassed you ask? Just wait for the 'Seven Seals' to be revealed and the return of Primal Fear to European stages in December and January. 2005 will be under the sign of the eagle!
