Gloomy but interesting
An interesting concoction of Bauhaus-esque Goth and dirty trance-like dance with intensely nasty industrial moments, History Of Guns latest makes you feel grubby and intrigues you at the same time; it’s also incredibly depressing stuff. ‘When You Don’t Matter’ mixes a slow synth and drum samples with low, very mannered, almost spoken vocals; it’s dark and down-beat in the extreme. Track two ‘Slice up your Wife’ is a very disturbing take on the Spice Girls ‘Spice up your Life’ with gory lyrics thrown in and amusingly, says ‘feat. Spice Girls’ in brackets after the track name. ’Forever’ almost sounds like a standard Underworldish type dance tune until the low and grim Goth vocals interject. History Of Guns are an interesting prospect but also possibly an acquired taste, this reviewer found them a touch too gloomy to be truly enjoyable but they are pretty extreme so definitely worth checking out.
