Atmospheric

Kent four piece, Motion Picture Soundtrack, showcase their atmospheric rock on this three track EP, ahead of their forthcoming debut album. The tracks clearly show these guys have plenty of talent and it is an exceedingly accomplished EP for someone without an album release behind them.

The only real gripe one can find, and this is a gripe of a very minor scale, is that they are not doing anything ground breaking or new, maybe they are looking at the film market as their name suggests. However, all three tracks are in slightly different styles and although the first track ‘Departure’ is supposed to be the lead track, it’s the final track, five minute emotionally charged epic ‘Mirrors’ that could easily be the one that propels Motion Picture Soundtrack into the limelight. ‘Departure’ is certainly the most radio friendly of the three with its happy upbeat commercial feel to it. Sandwiched between the two is ‘Faults Of A Realist’ a slow building song that on its own may be a good song but with the other two here, is the weaker one.

With a UK tour due in November, Motion Picture Soundtrack are definitely a band to see if you like your rock to be less aggressive.
