Motorcycle Display Team - The Crayon Masterpiece EP

‘The Crayon Masterpiece EP’ by Motorcycle Display Team is a measly four tracks long but may just be enough to introduce you to the sounds of the band.

It is a little disappointing that there is not one track that really stands out, catches the ear or is more exciting to listen to. Having said that, these four are nothing to be bored by. The opener, ‘Firecracker’, is a fairly gently paced slice of indie rock. ‘Worry Wings’, a darker toned tune with slicker guitar riffs and an interesting musical exploration of sound half way through follows this, ‘Ain’t’ is a jumpier and more indie vibe tune; this one has the most danceable beat and is the most interesting track on the release, then the concluding tune ‘Beneath the Flower Beds’ has rockier and faster melodies.

Vocally lead singer Steven Hinds is able to blend in with the music incredibly well, altering his pitch and tone where necessary to achieve a darker or higher inclined atmosphere. But once again nothing jumps or screams out at you or grasps your attention; there is nothing explosive that will keep your attention peeled to hear more. Motorcycle Display Team has created a moderately interesting four songs, nothing to get excited about but worth a listen if you get the opportunity.
